- Handling

- Do not pull; tugging tightens the grip. Set it down with all four feet on a surface near a retreat and wait. Never lift by the tail, which detaches and regrows in about 30 days.Handling guide →

- Any injury or trauma, or swelling and color change in the skin
- Ulcers or excessive discharge in the mouth
- Limping or difficulty moving
- Loss of appetite or unusual inactivity that outlasts a settling-in period
- Weight loss on the weekly scale
- Loose or abnormal droppings, eye discharge or swelling, or retained shed
Any of these means a call, not a wait. Retained shed alone is a humidity boost and a fine mist at home.
